Rohit Sharma's Fitness Update Before IPL 2025 Match
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 7: In anticipation of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene shared insights regarding Rohit Sharma's condition.
Rohit Sharma participated in the first three matches for the five-time champions this season, with scores of 13 against Chennai Super Kings, 8 against Gujarat Titans, and a duck against Kolkata Knight Riders. He was absent from the last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Jayawardene stated in a pre-match press conference, “Ro [Rohit] is looking good and will bat today. He experienced a minor leg issue while batting, which caused some discomfort. We traveled yesterday, and he will have a practice session today, after which we will evaluate his condition.”
He added, “Rohit has been performing well in the nets. It’s a bit unfair to judge a player based on just a couple of innings. My last memory of his performance is from the Champions Trophy-winning innings. We need to support our experienced players, and we trust our core group to deliver results. It was unfortunate that he got injured in practice, but we hope he will be fully fit soon.”
Currently, the Mumbai Indians sit in eighth place on the IPL 2025 points table, having secured only one victory from four matches. Their next game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru is scheduled for Monday at the renowned Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
